Mileage and corrosion are the two biggest factors in determining the value of a vehicle.  Don't get caught up in the age of a vehicle, an older vehicle with low mileage and low corrosion can be a better investment than a newer one with higher mileage and/or corrosion damage.  While the price of a car does indeed go down with age, spending more money on an older low-mileage car that has been well maintained may be the wiser investment.
